I Miss'em

There have been many listed in the obits over the last few weeks that were my age. In one day I lost two former classmates. Our days truly are precious and few with the ones we love, our family and friends. Ole Tob and Old dawg were two friends I thought would be around for a long time. It just goes to show that we should never take life, or our future for granted. Their passing is a constant reminder to treat folks like today may be the last one, for me or for them.

You summed it up for me too ut. Me and Tob always joked about who would drive us to games when we got up in years, whether or not we'd still have the energy to ring the bells, etc. It's over in a blink of an eye. That's why people need to avoid conflicts and do what they can for each other. You may fight with someone today and they be gone before you can apologize. Then you're stuck thinking about that the rest of your life. I personally don't want that on my mind. Thankfully me and Tob never had a hateful word to say to each other. We had some choice words, but in a brotherly manner..lol. I miss the rascal but know he's much better off than the rest of us are.

I've missed Dawg for years. Back in the green and black board days, he'd call me everything under the sun. Then on Friday's he'd send me a message sayin "good luck to you guys tonight ole buddy". He was a goodun.

This is a good thread for the young ones. Our 20th class reunion, we decided the biggest thing we had done was that all of us were still alive. Kids , life will roll right on by if you let it. High school is gone before you know it, and your life can be too. Do me a favor and think just a little sometimes you act, I know I wish I could change some things.

A good friend told me once as you get older you will find yourself going to more funerals then you would imagine.
I listened to that and thought yeah. I was young and then i grew up, the words my good friend told me, come back to me. He was totally right.
It was another true lesson. I have. And a lot of good friends. Special in many ways.
Last week was wild. Went to the phone in a moment of not thinking and started to call a friend. Had to think about it for a minute.
Gone from this world. But not forgetten. One thing we can do is never let their presence from this world be forgotten. Even those here.
One thing i have learned and some here know me. I may go on about stuff. But i always remember to say im sorry or if i screwed up forgive me.
My conscience is a little like Quincy's. Can't live with the idea i may of hurt someone intentionally. Yeah i can say things. But sometimes in the heat of something you do. Best thing is to remember as i was raised. You may not have tomorrow to say im sorry.
Yeah guys i miss a lot of forum members here who have went on. And a lot of former friends who have went on. Sometimes i smile when i think back to the good times.
God has blessed me to have some special people in my life. At many different points and times. And a bunch of people here i consider much as an extended family.

I know what you mean. I've caught myself sending an e-mail to Old Dawg more than once. Never had the heart to take his e-mail address out of my address book. I still have several of the e-mails he sent me...didn't have the heart to delete them.

This thread really needs to be over in the regular forum so some of the youngsters can follow along with what's being said.
